When it is lived
Meet Odette, a woman with both a wonderful imagination, and a shame she is trying to reconcile. When a manipulative and deceitful sorcerer captures her inner sorrow (and thus takes with him her wisdom), she is cursed to live her days as a vapid and beautiful swan, amongst an infinite community of cursed swans. At night, the curse is lifted, and so with the power of the night’s magical moon, there is an opportunity to experience a life of adventure, wonder, and fantasy. This story, a timeless classic, is a visually mesmerizing interplay between the dark and light forces within us all.
Our cast blends professional, emerging, and community dancers, creating a deeply human portrayal of this timeless and enchanting fairytale.
Dance and Heart is an artist-led dance collective based in Centre Wellington Ontario, founded and produced by Norah Wardell. The collective creates theatrical, visually driven contemporary dance performance while providing opportunities for rural dancers across Southern Ontario to train, perform, and develop their artistic practice.
